How Beautiful

Meditations on Romans

How Beautiful

And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

Romans 10:15

Read Romans 10:14-21

In chapter seven, Paul showed how Israel had failed to fulfill the mission God had entrusted to her. In chapter eight, Paul proclaimed the complete victory God has won through the faithfulness of Jesus in keeping the mission entrusted to him. In chapters nine and ten, Paul has combined these two themes. In chapter nine, he reveals his anguish that his Jewish brothers and sisters are not running to their Messiah, and in chapter ten, Paul is again proclaiming our salvation through faith in Christ. Let us remember again,

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Romans 10:17).

“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?” (Romans 10:14-15a)

My Takeaway: So, who is sent?

I am.

So are you!

“How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” That is my feet, and your feet the scripture is describing. How beautiful we are when we share the Good News about Jesus, our Savior!

(Selah is a word that appears in the Book of Psalms that I often use as the Complimentary Closing in my correspondence. Its meaning, as I use the word, is to pause and think about these things.)
