Meditations on
Staying In the Grace for Today

The Perfect High Priest Forever
When (Jesus) comes on that day, he will receive glory from
his holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you
believed what we told you about him.
2 Thessalonians 1:10
Do you have an image of how Jesus will appear when you see him? Saint John, in his Revelation gives us a hint: “And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest.” (Revelation 1:13) The last sentence is very important to us. John’s first readers immediately knew John saw one who was dressed as a priest. The two-fold mission of the priest is to present people to God, and to present God to people. When we see Jesus, face to face, he will present us, holy and blameless to our Heavenly Father.
Hebrews 7 teaches us that Jesus, our High Priest, is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. Unlike other high priests, Jesus does not need to offer sacrifices every day. Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for our sins. God has made Jesus the perfect High Priest forever. Hallelujah.
My Takeaway: Jesus, the perfect High Priest, intercedes for us every day. When we see him face to face, he will be delighted to present us to his, and our, Heavenly Father. Knowing Jesus is my High Priest keeps me grounded in his grace for today.

(Selah is a word that appears in the Book
of Psalms that I often use as the Complimentary Closing in my correspondence.
Its meaning, as I use the word, is to pause and think about these things.)
