To God Be The Glory

To God Be The Glory

For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
Romans 11:36
Read Romans 11:33-36

The turning of the leaves was a few weeks late this year, but as I write this, the fall colors are rushing into their splendor. Days like these are made for singing the Doxology, “Praise God from whom all blessing flow . . .” Indeed, everything comes from God and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. Paul’s closing verse to chapter eleven is very reminiscent of Paul’s extraordinary proclamation on the supremacy of Christ in Colossians 1:15-20.

Everything coming from God, existing by his power and intended for his glory is also reminiscent to me of Paul’s proclamation in Romans 8:28-29. God is working ALL things together for good in my life, and the good is that I would be transformed to become like Christ. I owe God the allegiance of life because I belong to him by creation and redemption, I belong to him; thus I come from him and I am held together by his power, and I am intended to glorify him.

My Takeaway: How can I glorify God? When I cooperate with him as he works in me, giving me the desire and the power to do what pleases him, I glorify him. When I cooperate with him as he works all things together for the good of forming Christ within me, I glorify him. When I cooperate with the Master Potter, I glorify him!

(Selah is a word that appears in the Book of Psalms that I often use as the Complimentary Closing in my correspondence. Its meaning, as I use the word, is to pause and think about these things.)
