Enjoy Jesus!
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come
to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
In our journey seeking the life
in Christ as our way of life, perhaps our most difficult obstacle to overcome is
in fully grasping that the way, the truth and the life we are seeking is a person:
not principles, procedures or processes. Take time to ponder this. Truth is not
a system; it is not a legal principle; it is not the historic creeds of the
church; truth is a person.
Just the same, our way to the
Father is not through rule keeping or law abiding; our way to the Father is a
person. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”
(John 10:10b NRSV). Don’t look around your life for signs of abundance;
abundant life is not in the stuff we accumulate; abundant life is a person!
Yes, this is very difficult to
grasp. Nevertheless, we “press on so that (we) may lay hold of that for which
also (we were) laid hold of by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12 NASB). Remember,
Jesus has us in his grip, and he is not going to lose us. (John 10:28-29) Relax,
breathe deep, and ask your Heavenly Father to make real to you that EVERYTHING
you are looking for is found in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is your way, Jesus
is the truth, and Jesus is your life.
Enjoy Jesus!

(Selah is a word that appears in the
Book of Psalms that I often use as the Complimentary Closing in my
correspondence. Its meaning, as I use the word, is to pause and think about
these things.)
