Search Me, O God
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious
thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of
everlasting life.
Psalm 139:23-24
God loves you with an everlasting
love!
God accepts you unconditionally,
just as you are!
God embraces you with tenderness
beyond your comprehension!
If you believed God’s love for
you, if you accepted God’s acceptance of you, if you dared to reach out to “lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has
also laid hold of (you)” (Philippians 3:12 KJV), how different might your
life be?
Our God is multifaceted in His
splendor. Most often, God’s attributes are identified as omniscience (infinite
knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), and omnipresence (present everywhere).
He is also omni-benevolence (perfect goodness). Jesus calls his followers to
live as people of the highest integrity, the highest moral character, and to
subscribe to his very own ethical standards. Because of the omni-benevolence of
our God, we can enthusiastically embrace this calling to be the fully-devoted
followers of Jesus. Because God’s claim
on our lives is undergirded by the truth that God loves us with an everlasting
love, God accepts us unconditionally, just as we are, and God embraces us with
tenderness beyond our comprehension, our hearts sing,
Oh, the glory of Your
presence
We, Your temple, give
You reverence
So arise to Your rest
And be blessed by our
praise
As we glory in Your
embrace
As Your presence now
fills this place
O The Glory of His
Presence

When we truly believe, accept and
embrace the truth of God’s love for us, we will join the psalmist in an
invitation to God, our Father,
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious
thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of
everlasting life.
Psalm 139:23-24

(Selah is a word that appears in the
Book of Psalms that I often use as the Complimentary Closing in my correspondence.
Its meaning, as I use the word, is to pause and think about these things.)
